Our admin office currently runs internet over a dedicated ISDN line, we are upgrading to a fast DSL solution but would like to retain our ISDN in a dial-on-demand capacity should the DSL go down.
I plan to run our existing Cisco 1720 router to route all LAN traffic via the DSL modem. The existing ISDN lines connected to the router will remain and will be changed to connect only at our request. ~ It is important for our budget that the ISDN only connects if the DSL fails for a significant amount of time.
I do not have a great deal of experience working with our router, I am working toward my CCNA but feel the project is a great challenge but one I don’t want to do wrong (but don’t want to enlist outside help unless I am sure I can’t do it).
I would appreciate any sound advice from admins who’ve completed similar projects before, and any useful links to resources that can guide me through the process. e.g. a Cisco case study of exactly what I am attempting.
