After creating Partition,XP pro still won’t install on Vista pc

I made a partition(xp(W;) 4.72 GB). I formated the volume(NTFS). I put the xp cd in, restarted computer. I’ve tried f8, f6, pressing any key to boot from disc…How do I put xp on my new partition(w;)? Please help. I would greatly appreciate it.
