after format, modem won't dial out...
When I went to run the install for the motherboard and several other things on it, the setup.exe would give me stack dump errors. (lovely) In desperation, I would explore the cd and do my own. In the instructions I saw there was a comment about simple pci-to pci bridge driver. (the wording in the 98 instructions did not matchwhat I actually saw there)
Now the modem is installed (used the Conexant modem ID program from manufacturers site. So I know I have the correct driver. Under modems, more info shows the modem is functional and all appears well. When I try todial out, I get that there's no dial tone present. (testing the plug with a phone shows that line is fine.) Other than the modem not working, the system is great.
Do you feel that the non-functioning modem (which is PCI) is affected by the pci to pci driver that I didn't replace? Or unrelated to what I noticed? Any advice to try? Thanks for any help.
