I have a laptop running windows vista home premium 32 bit with sp2. I have the power mode set to sleep when I unplug the laptop and then close the lid, so I can resume whatever I’m working on. If the computer has been turned on and hasn’t been put into sleep mode at all for that day, it will recognize all external media, no matter how many times I unplug and reconnect it. However, after waking from sleep mode it no longer recognizes anything new as far as external media (dvds, cds, mp3 players, external hdds, usb mice… NOTHING.)
If the media remained plugged in through the sleep/wake process, it will still be recognized and accessible. But if it was unplugged during that time or plugged in for the first time after sleep/wake, the computer does not even see that it is there. It’s driving me INSANE.
