AGP Texturing Test Failure

By userdoba ·
I recently installed an ATI Radeon AGP card in my PC clone to replace the PCI video card I previously used with my 400 MHz AMD K6-2 CPU on a 5MVP3 100 MHz bus motherboard. At first, all worked well, then I started getting fatal exception errors. Iran DXdiag and received the following error when I tested AGP texturing, "Failure at step 41 (creating AGP Surface): HRESULT = 0x8876017c (unknown error)". Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this?

ATI cards are famous (infamous?) for the problems they have with AMD chips, especially older ones like the K6-2. It's a compatibility issue and it's the reason I stay away from AMD cpu's. (It's not a slam on AMD, it's just that I like and use ATI cards...)

Contact ATI and they might have a special driver for your mobo/cpu/chipset combination. They seem to have special drivers for a lot of their cards.
