AGP Video card not working

By Rel Blackmane ·
My powercolor mx400 64 MB video card will not work with my Windows 2000 operating system. It is installed properly and works fine with little games, but if I try to play Diablo2 LOD or Darkstone, or any high end game my video dies.
What's happening?
I have all patches imaginable and still nothing

It's not a path problem of a game.
You have to dowload the newest videodriver for your videocard.
w2k probably installed the next best thing it thought was best for your system.

c u on battlenet.

I downloaded the latest drivers from powercolor and it didn't help in the least. I am an A+ tech and I've tweaked every bios setting available to no effect. Perhaps W2000 doesn't support AGP on A Celeron chip.

As you describe the problem it sounds like some problem with memory on the card.

It is possible to has defective cells on given address and when you run high end game it will use all video memory and trigger the problem.

If you can try to obtain another video card
from seller just to try.

Another thing - Win2k is not good for games, try to install a Win98 on separate partition and see how it will be with it.

Also try to find old drivers for try, these that come with the card for example.

At last - see that everything in Bios Setup is setup correctly - Memory timing, processor rate, voltage.

Also this can be result if you have overclocked your processor.

Thank you but I discovered that the problem lies with my monitor(cheap Acana 15sp), which craps out at 800X600 or higher. Tried another monitor and everything works fine.
