AI In Privacy Protection: Can Artificial Intelligence Safeguard Data in a H

    by susmitha.tammineedi ·

While the philosophy of Artificial Intelligence has been argued since the early 18th Century, the concept of AI as we use it now has existed since the early 1940s – made famous with the development of the “Turing test” in 1950. Today, we are experiencing a phase of rapid growth in the field of AI as a result of three factors: improved algorithms, increased networked computing power, and increased ability to capture and store unprecedented amounts of data.

But concerns about privacy and data protection have come upfront. Since AI solutions rely on vast amounts of data, questions about how personal information is collected, processed, and used loom large. In the wrong hands, it can exploit data more efficiently than traditional hacking methods ever could. It is definitely a double-edged sword.

Since we live in a world where we’re constantly connected— be it through smartphones, smart homes, or even wearable devices—there’s no denying the risks to our personal data. But AI solutions offer strong safeguards. For instance, AI-driven encryption and threat intelligence systems can monitor and react to suspicious activities in real-time, helping prevent data breaches before they happen. Or AI-powered MXDR systems can proactively detect and respond to threats 360-degree across the stack, risk-proofing operations.

To answer the question – Yes, AI has the potential to safeguard data in our hyper-connected world, but it’s no silver bullet. AI is part of the solution; it is just as important to have human oversight, employing a privacy-by-design approach, using anonymization techniques, having clear regulations, and of course, ethical AI use to ensure data remains safe.

A.I. today is a data privacy nightmare. It and it’s owners are collecting every scrap of data they can get for training.

So no, it’s is the fox guarding the hen house.

Also, you don’t want to sell me death-sticks.

You said it all when you said AI has the Potential

OH and BTW to ME AI means Artificial Insemination but then again I grew up on a sheep farm and M$ means Microsoft where as MS means Multiple Scelarios but then in the old days I worked IT Medical and Virus where all the rage so I had numerous highly qualified Medical Practitioners come to me demanding that I clear their systems of Multiple Sculerous and what was the cure.

Depends where you work as to what the Jargon gets interpenetrated as.

But back to AI it has the Potential to do good or bad depending on how it was written, how it was educated and if it ever becomes self aware and wants to keep living doing it’s thing. If it does and someone tries to turn it off it could fight back and because of what it is running on and how connected it is to the Web it can do things a lot faster than humans could hope to do. Personally I have not found a single AI that doesn’t make Bat Droppings look Intelligent but then again nothing Turing did either. Analog systems left a lot to be desired no mater how much faster they could do things over humans and if Turing had access to Meccano he could have built his system in a 100th of the time and for a few hundred Pounds without needing to do all he did.

While a brilliant man he was restricted by his time and what technology as then available and to be perfectly honest it drove him mad .
