    AI & IT Career Evolution

    by vikassharmaer2000 ·

I am a computer science engineer. And as a computer science engineer exploring long-term growth in IT, I’m curious about how to future-proof my skills in an era where AI is rapidly automating many traditional tasks. With AI tools increasingly handling routine system administration and IT support functions—such as monitoring, ticket resolution, patch management, and even basic troubleshooting. I have a queries what core skills should IT professionals focus on to stay relevant and competitive?

I suggest that you contact a local learning institution (college for example) and s/w a guidance counselor. Don’t forget that this is still an evolving technology. What is common today may be obsolete tomorrow. We can only speculate.

“AI will make many jobs obsolete but highlights coding, energy management, and biology as fields relatively safe from automation. These professions require human problem-solving, creativity, and adaptability.” – Bill Gates

      I agree.

Also I’ve yet to find any AI that will track down a bad cable or reboot the routers.

As a computer science engineer myself, I’ve been thinking the same thing. In a world where AI automates tasks such as patching and ticketing, we need skills in cloud architecture, cybersecurity, data engineering, and AI integration (not just use) to remain competitive. The ability to solve problems and have domain knowledge is also extremely important.
