Airline baggage fees – I’m talking to you, US Airways.

by charliespencer . Updated 17 years ago

I can understand having to pay a baggage fee. What I can’t understand is the policy of not being able to pay for the bag when I booked the flight, all on one credit card transaction. Instead, the baggage fee must be paid at check-in. Then I’m going to have to go through ANOTHER transaction to pay for the bag on the return flight.

I knew I was going to be carrying a bag when I booked the flight two weeks ago. It didn’t just occur to me this morning, “Hey, I’m gonna be gone for three days; I better bring some clothes!” Why couldn’t I pay the luggage fees along with the tickets?

Three credit card transactions for one trip. I’m sure there’s a reason for this. I’d love to know what it is.

And yes, I did send this same message to US Airways customer service.
