    Airlink security

How secure is spread-spectrum frequency hopping technology without airlink encryption?
Should a small company feel safe accessing a corporate database over the Internet given this link in a wireless solution, or should they use a direct dial-up option?

The most suitable answer is: it depends. You have to trade the costs of a data loss with the costs of preventing it.

Yes, spread-spectrum technology is more secure than simple fixed-frequency radio transmission but it’s not physically secure from an interception point of view.

My own philosophy is that all data that travels off a premises you control should be encrypted, whether it travels via wire, radio or optical beam.
