AIX : rsh – remote host refused connect

AIX 5.2:
I have set up a NIM server and one client (so far) and I am now trying to run operations on the client from the master. However, every time I try an operation I get an error: e.g. trying to reboot the client using smit on the master I get the error message “0042-193 m_doreboot: NIMCLIENT1 has no entry for NIMMASTER in .rhosts or cannot resolve host id”. I’ve checked the .rhosts file it is ok and contains an entry for the master. Running command “rsh nimmaster -l root ls” on the client results in the following error “NIMMASTER: A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.” the .rhosts file permissions are -rw-r–r–
Can anyone out there shed any light on this for me?
