All in One Printer over Terminal Services

By lheisey ·
I have an XP workstation with an HP OfficeJet K all in one printer. it is connecting to an W2K Terminal server. I can print from the server to the remote printer, however, from the XP box where the printer is directly connected, I can not print from TS to the local printer. HELP! I am very frustrated and can not see what the problem is.

You need to have the EXACT SAME printer driver installed on the XP as on the TS. If you do not "see" the all-in-one printer when connected via TS, that means that the server does not have the same driver installed. These all-in-ones are a pain but you need to install the XP driver onto the W2K server via START, SETTINGS, PRINTERS, FILE, SERVER PROPERTIES, DRIVERS, ADD new driver.
Do not do a printer install on the server, just install the print driver. Hope this helps.

If you connected with the pallalel cable you should use the install cd to restall all the apps.

If you are using the USB cable, install/reinstall the drivers for the USB. If you installed from the Windows CD the USB drivers are not installed for 2.0, only for 1.0. If the USB is on the motherboard you to get the drivers from the motherboard manufactor. If on a USB card (is the ver 1.0) you might have buy a new USB card for ver 2.0.

Also check the device manager about your hardware, to see if all devices are connecting.

Good Luck
