We don't do your homework for you....

And besides, there is not question there, just a statement.

When you get hired you know where you fit according to the organizations Organizational chart, if unsure you could ask the Department Head / Director for clarification.

Taking this to be a serious discussion point and not part of an MBA course.......

Review your understanding of corporate governance and the corporate structure.

Consider whether you are a leader who supports or a paternalistic manager who induces fear. Both can get results as can any of the other categories of manager in between.

However it is possible to be a fantastic leader by serving the team - your role can be to ensure that the governance of your department or team occurs in line with the corporate model and within a set of professional ethics.

My preference is to be a serving leader rather than a searing paternalist. My role is to apply Maslow's hierarchy quite liberally to my teams and to ensure that the team can function. Mentoring, challenging when necessary, supporting, allowing and identifying mistakes, correcting them, promoting self-knowledge and skills development. I have to ensure that all the right ingredients for success are available within the strategy of the organisation and the scope of the work in hand.....
