All the points I have...PC Card woes

By stormyguy25 ·
I'm running a six year old toshiba on Windows 98 and I
just bought a Linksys Etherfast PC Card to connect at
my school network. Apparently, after about an hour
fiddling with it....My Internet Explorer and MSN
messengar cannot detect the Internet...however my
Netscape and AOL Instanst messenger work fine...

Is it because of the Netscape/AIM and MSN/Microsoft IE
relationship. Help if you can... Solve if your an expert :)

Sorry bout the low point value....but after that im spent..

First close all programs except Explorer using the Cntrl+Alt+Delete (Close Program), then go to the control panel>Add/Remove Programs, highlight the IE Explorer and Inet tools entry and click Remove...An option window will open, the 3 options will be Repair IE, go back to the previous installed issue of IE, or cancel. Choose Repair, then OK. After the repair completes, it will ask you if you want to restart the computer, choose yes (this must happen for the repair to actually update files and complete the repair).

Once the restart happens attempt to use the IE as soon as all start up programs are loaded upon boot. If it still isn't working come back here, k?

Good luck.

Did you look to see if IE is in "Work Offline" mode? I know that if IE is selected to be Offline, then MSN Messenger will not connect either.
So, open IE and click File. Look for "Work Offline" and make sure it is NOT checked. If it is checked, uncheck it, then click the Refresh button. Then start us MSN Messenger.

hope this helps
