All you people who decided to leave, hold up!

I guess I just want to try to do something about stuff, but I can't.
And if I speak about problems in the way I feel, I get minus votes.
So I made a yahoo group, for the regulars who've decided to slide away, and for those that would like to not let them get away so easy.
It's all strictly opt-in, and if it takes off, I'll try to pawn off responsibilities to more trustworthy people later.
But, I ain't gonna spam you people, so throw me a pm (you know you can temporarily use a throwaway email account for TR for that process, if you're leery, right?), and I'll send you the invite.
Or you can reply here if you can't pm me, then we'll work something out.
Maybe these help...

Hello AnsuGisalas.....

by Peconet Tietokoneet In reply to All you people who decide ...

Could you be more specific on where you are going with this?
Is this just for your own satisfaction or what?
I need more information on this setup and what you are going to do when you have a person who will do some spam, you will be back to square one will you not!!. Like i said, good idea but i need more info before i come/climb aboard.

Oh, it's not a replacement for the boards...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Hello AnsuGisalas.....

It's just a way for people to keep in touch in case TR becomes less useful for the kind of social interaction that many have come here for.
Closed circle, admission by invitation only - that kind of thing will never last, but it doesn't have to, it's just a parachute - it gives time. It will serve for (((hugs))) and yuks and the like, as well as for discussing happenings on TR without offending the Eye and all the little people with their little minus-votes, because - even though I know the singular minus votes won't end the world, I can't help but feel that it's a tiny little person flipping a tiny little bird at me, and doing it from the safety of an unbreakable dome. It annoys me, which is obviously silly, but it does.
It's not among the kinds of aggravation I enjoy.

And it's not necessarily the right thing to do, but it is the the one thing within my powers.

those minus votes

by Jaqui In reply to Oh, it's not a replacemen ...

I've seen a few on topic posts that had a minus vote on them, and myself put a plus on it to cancel the minus out. :)

Yeah, some of the downvotes are downright odd.

by seanferd In reply to those minus votes

Some are probably errors, but many are from those tiresome types - e.g., the core whiner group at ZDNet. Especially, but not limited to, the Linux/Mac/Windows warriors with no real clue. Or, like the "Did you write this article to take up space?" types.

Me, too.

I can't imagine why anyone would 'minus vote' Ansu. Geeminy.

I figured I'd keep it low-key...
It can be changed later.

You are quite near inspiring me to actually use Yahoo.

by seanferd In reply to All you people who decide ...

I barely ever do, though it has been associated with my ISP for years. I may need to check this out. As if I need one more thing on the intartubes to read. :^0

Already been done

by Michael Jay In reply to All you people who decide ...

a bit back a bunch of folks went to Facebook and many have never, well almost never looked back. Some, like me, switch back and forth between the two seems the best of both worlds.
