Alternate way to create a table of contents

By davoud ·
Hi all,

Looking for an alternative way to create a "table of contents" instead of using table tag, other than using pre tag.

this is because of preventing overusing tables within tables.

thanks for your input.

o.k thanks alot for replying Tony and Jaqui, but how do you want to recode the following using UL and LI?

<html>

<body>

<table border="1" width="100%">
<tr>
<td>Feature</td>
<td>TV1</td>
<td>TV2</td>
<td>
TV3</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Feature1</td>
<td>yes</td>
<td>no</td>
<td>yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Feature2</td>
<td>no</td>
<td>yes</td>
<td>yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Feature3</td>
<td>yes</td>
<td>yes</td>
<td>yes</td>
</tr>
</table>

</body>

</html>

the only way you wind up with nested tables with that is using css.
and nested tables are a part of using css, unfortunately.
( unless you use the div feature instead of the table method )

for dplaying a catalogue entry in a comparison chart like that, the table is the best way, it keeps the data in the correct position far better than any other method can.
