NT 4.0, sp6a, Added a HP895CXI printer to the network via a Jet Direct Card. No problem with NT 4.0 driver. When I attempt to load Win9x driver I get the Alternative driver….. message. Technet only refers to this with regards to cab files. I have downloaded the driver directly from HP and expanded them properly. I do get the *.inf file but get the above message when it tries to install. I have tried HP’s corporate and home versions of the driver and get the same results on both. I have never run into this before, has anyone else, (in the meantime we are trying to locate the original CD to see if that helps) (this printer has been around a while and we usually don’t put inkjets on the N/W though the few that are there have never had this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
