This is a Epox 9NPA 939 pin m/b with 4 gigs of memory and XP Media Center that started getting difficult at times to boot up. The normal beep at start-up and the posting of the BIOS would not happen. After a few restarts It would boot. This got progressively worse and sometimes if I let it sit for a day it would start right up the next day. This is a Antec case with two 120 mm fans and two 60 mm fans that I added plus the P/S fans in the Antec 550 watt power supply. It doesn’t seem to be a heat problem. This is a PC that I added a new hard drive and a fresh install of Windows Media Center to cure other various BSOD problems.
The BSOD problems are no more to be replaced with this won’t boot problem. Once lately the BIOS posted and then instead of starting Windows it just went into hibernation. I am using my back-up PC with the same monitor, printer, and scanner and they all work great. I recently sent the m/b to Epox for sevicing because I was having USB caused errors. Epox doesn’t think this new problem is likely to be caused by the m/b.
I tried a another video card and another hard drive and that made no difference. I was beginning to think it might be the processor, but if I get it running it never quits and seems that it would run forever. Epox updated the BIOS while they had it. I have a TV/FM card, a PCI Express x1 USB expansion card and a 5.1 sound card in there. I can take these cards out and try that, but I would appreciate any other suggestions.
