And, now
Lockedby santeewelding · about 10 years, 7 months ago
I see this:
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/federal-retirement-plans-costly-social-security/story?id=14628672
No way, on top of everything else, do I see us coming out the other side without serious upheaval and hurt. Just, no way.

What is it I’ve been criticized for over all these years?
by maxwell edison · about 10 years, 7 months ago
In reply to And, now
(Not criticized by you, Santee)
Oh yeah, advocating smaller federal government; wanting a fiscally responsible federal government; less accumulation of federal debt; fewer government employees; fewer federal government departments; pay and benefits for government employees that’s on par with the private sector; banning government unions; etc.
Geesh! What’s next? Signing bonuses paid by the federal government to states that recruit the most people and sign them up for the federal food stamp program?

This sentence, which I elected not to include, thinking it would be too obvious:
“If anything, Max has not been strong enough with his protestations.”

Both wings have had their very own pet spendings, and neither has been able to trust that the other wing will cut justly, or in prudence, even – so both sides just clamp down their jaws hard and try to block all cuts to own projects.
Y’all need to cull the fringes. If Obama has any nuts at all he’ll make a call for responsible lawmakers to get together across the divide, and shut out the irresponsible ones on both sides.
But politicians can’t really fix it, they only caused it, after all.Your everyday citizens have to do exactly the same. Get over the little differences, and concentrate on the big issues, and forget all the “divide and conquer” BS you’ve been pipe-fed for 50+ years.

….. (if we’re not already there), when I can say, I told you so. But over all this time, I was actually hoping that I would end up being wrong.
Hell and Hand Basket come to mind. But where is the point of no return? In front of us or behind?

penned a song, Let it fall down,
Sing a song for the wrong and the wicked and the strong and the sick, as thick as thieves.
For the faceless fear that was never so near, too clear to mis believe.
Well the sea is jumping salty and the porpoise has the blues,
my recollection’s faulty and I cannot find my shoes.
And my wiring is misfiring due to cigarettes and booze,
I’m behind in my dues, I just now got the news.
He seems to tell us lies and still we will believe him,
then together he will lead us into darkness, my friends.Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down. The man says stand to one side, son, we got to keep this big ball rolling.
It’s just a question of controlling for whom the bell is tolling.Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down. There’ll be suffering and starvation in the streets, young man.
Just where have you been, old man? Just look out of your window, man.Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.Well, it ain’t nobody’s fault but our own,
still, at least we might could show the good sense
To know when we’ve been wrong, and it’s already taken too long.
So we bring it to a stop then we take it from the top,
we let it settle on down softly like your gently falling snow
or let it tumble down and topple like the temple long ago.Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.It would seem our government is determined to do just that.

Gotcha.
“…to stare”
Do I need to explain why this — this altogether pedestrian instance of prescience — cannot be allowed to stand, slipped through the back door of your education as a child?

Barr’s supposedly a comedian by profession. What I can’t believe is that anyone still takes Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman seriously.

Palmie, J.Ja. and I share the unfortunate circumstance of being represented by Joe “You Lie” Wilson.
His last re-election theme was “Joe means jobs.” Considering the unemployment rate in much of his district, and the direction of change since the election, I’ve never quite been clear on who those jobs are for…

a verbified version of the noun “mean”, as in “the mean of this set of numbers”.
So he was making a courageous aim for absolute mediocrity on jobs.
