android related feature requests for gmail

    Locked

    by icq78354419 ·

    gmail is good, but having the following will be amazing;

    a) EMAIL TAGGED TO CONTACTS:
to see all my email communication with a specific contact from the contacts view both on webmail and on android phone
now we need to key in contact’s email in search box to find our email history with him/her

    b) SMS SYNC:
to be able to sync all our sms with our gmail account and again tag it to the relavant contact
there is a product “backup to gmail” on android market. but it can not tag sms to contact automatically and also gmail filters can not be applied on them

    c) CALL RECORDS SYNC:
we can record voice calls. but nice if those call records are also stored in our gmail and tagged to the contact.
ofcourse i should be able to choose what calls are to be stored and what not to save space
or i can fix a limited space for call records and old records are automatically deleted as the new one arrives with an option to move certain important calls to a permanent folder
yeah, they will have date and time stamping

    d) NOTES & MEMOS:
i want my gmail to store my notes, voice memos, dictations, picture, movies, everything from my android phone all arranged date wise like a journal and searchable inside gmail.
there are products with similar functionality on android market
“evernote” = sync to their website, no gmail integration
“gnotes” = syncs text, voice, images, movies to google
but its nice to have these features natively in the operating system itself.
i dont like multiple applications from the phone randomly signing into my gmail account and keep syncing, draining my battrey and increasing my data usage. also i rely on google’s quality assurance

changing a phone should be perfectly seamless. switch-off your old phone, take new one, sign into google account and start using all your contacts, email, sms, call records, notes, everything..

    e) i should be able to wipe my android phone completely from the gmail web interface if i lose it.. but this feature works only when the phone connects to internet from the hands of thief. what if he tries to access my information without data connection?
can i enable startup lock code authentication? is this code difficult to break?

my gmail will not be just an email with all these features !!
it will be a diary of all my spoken and written communication

    am i asking too much?

Google and the Android devs are always adding features. Did you make such feature requests to Google? Only Google could say. Some feature requests should probably be addresses to the particular phone vendor.

“changing a phone should be perfectly seamless. switch-off your old phone, take new one, sign into google account and start using all your contacts, email, sms, call records, notes, everything..”

The phones already appear to do much of that, to the consternation of security-conscious users.

“can i enable startup lock code authentication? is this code difficult to break?”

Check the manual for your phone. Most phones seem to lock in this fashion, plain-old cell phone or smart phones, and has nothing to do with Google in particular. Just make sure to lock your phone before you lose it. 😉

However, phone or not, you should be able to log into GMail from any device and change your password. Or simply never save the password on the phone in the first place.
