animated gif will not show in media uploads in wordpress

Hi, I tried going to media, then uploads to add animation, but in uploads is window saying attachment detail and on the right of that window saying title, caption, description and copy link.
also says view attachment page, and edit for more details. I then click on view attachment page, but just the name of the image is displayed. the name is MoonandseaHDFinalRenderH264. On the right it says edit. If I click on edit, the dashboard comes up, saying edit media. with the name of the image. a permalink, caption and description. On window on right says, file name, file type, file size, length, audio , dimensions. says update or delete permanently. I click on update, nothing happens.
How do I get my gif image to display.
If anyone has had the same problem or can help me, please, I will be grateful

H264 is not a GIF encoding. You may want to stick to GIFs?

Thanks, just realized that it is an actual video.
Would you know how to position a gif to go in the header section of a page.
The code editor in wordpress seems to only let you position a gif underneath the header image.
