I own an HP laptop which is a few years old. The original battery was loosing its life so I replaced it with a new larger capacity battery approximately 2 months ago. The battery lasts quite a while, but the meter is causing problems. It doesn’t display the actual status of the battery. It only recognizes maybe half of its life. The laptop will run for a few hours on battery. When it reaches lower percentage, the computer performs the jobs assigned such as sleep at 50% and hibernate at 15%, but when I turn it back on, it will continue to run for about 2 more hours claiming 0%. I am currently a full time student studying a CIT major, and have been researching this issue upon many resources. And multiple times I have performed the battery config thing where you run the computer on battery until it dies, then recharge it fully before using it again and no productive results.
