We have started integrating a few Gateway laptops into our company and have come across an annoying problem which nobody (Gateway, HP) seems to be able to give me any direction on. I have some Gateway Solo 2500s and Solo 2550s with HP 880C or 950C Desk Jets. Upon startup of the laptop, the printers try to print out a page. When they do print an "e" with a "^" above it is all that prints. This doesn't occur when the printer is connected via USB. Any ideas?

Same problem as above but this is a home made computer with a soyo mother board.

My problem started after I made the following changes unfortunately at the same time:

Installed a net card from Dlink
Added a new 6 port USB hub
Installed a newVPN software

I have deleted the software and netcard software. I am using "startup cop" a free utility from pc magazine to limit all programs at startup.

Haven't found the answer, any ideas?
