A:\not accessable error

By farissier ·
When I right click any Shortcut on the PC, I get "A not accessable. This folder was moved or removed." This is the HP Vectra with no A at all just a CDRom Drive. Win2k, sp1 installed. Any experience here? I was ready to ship when I noticed this error. Can't ship now. Please help.

Check your path
Search registry for a:
check antivirus for "all local drives" or an A: setting

There may be two possiblities:
The first one is when the virus check is binded with the setting to check for viruses in A. Try finding the registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\, and edit it.
The second one could be the most likely problem, check your CMOS Setup, the A setting could be enabled in the pheriphial setup.
Hope this works, Maozy

right click on the shortcut and go in properties. Click on the "Shortcut" tab and look in "start in:"or "working:" it's possible to have something pointing to the "a drive".

Look also in the properties of your anti virus, it can try to scan the "a drive"

Have you tried;

Under find, click on the advanced tab, enter A:\, leave the type as all files and folders.
If it is out there in an a file it should find it. Open the file with notepad and change the A to a C.

Good Luck!
