another HP problem

By panget ·
I am experiencing problems w/ my printer. I have a deskjet670c and the cartridge cradle is stuck in the middle of the slide bar (or whatever you call it). It's making this awful crunching sound as the cradle is trying to go back to its original position but it just won't go back. Also, I'm having trouble turning it on and off. Somehow, 1 push on the power button is not enough to power it on or off. I have to press it continuously before it powers on/off. Any suggestions?

THis HP link sounds just like your problem:
HP Deskjet and HP Deskwriter 600 Series Printers - Paper Will Not Load, Grinding Noise, or Carriage Stall

read it thorough and follow the directions.

There is a small slide on the left side of the printer, which cams the gears to load paper. This tends to jump up and get jammed in the printer, especially after use. Just pull it to the right and pop it back down into place. This will fix the printer for the short term, but it will probably jam again. HP will not send the part, so I just keep unjamming mine. The carriage in the middle also indicates that it wants new carts or there is a problem with the carts.

Good luck
