Seems to be a lot going around

by mjd420nova In reply to Another Scumbag

I don't know how these transactions are planned on being committed but they have to be based on the amount of time between the money is committed to a US account and the time it takes for them to clear the foreighn banks. I've been approached on two different attempts, and both were from the UK. One check was a cashiers check that was suppoedly drawn on a bank in Massachusetts and investigation showed it to be stolen. The biggest clue was the banks logo not being the same. I hope no one gets caught up in thses attempts at fraud as they can be quite costly.

Same old Nigerians

That's been proven by quite a few consumer groups tracking them back.

You win a lottery that you've never entered and then you get to pay a small "transfer fee" before you get your sack-load of free Euros.

To be honest, I have no sympathy whatsoever with anyone who falls for that. My only beef is that the crass idiots who DO fall for it are sufficient incentive for the mails to keep on coming.

This scam is not new

by w2ktechman In reply to Seems to be a lot going a ...

What happens is that the funds are 'tied up' and funding is needed to free them on promise of receiving a reward. Then they will ask for more money to 'pay off' police or moneyholders, then they need to bribe someone else and ask for more money -- you see where I am going with this?
If you fall for it, you cannot reclaim your losses because you allowed the transaction.
And P.S. Usually these are sent from Africa

In the future, send the URL to the user's profile to Beth Blakely. She's our queen of blocking accounts.

Now that I know who to send "block" requests to, you are destined to become my new best friend!

Hmmm. Should probably add you to the Christmas card list. Peer me with an addy and I will!

Note for the future- NEVER leave the room during a meeting. It's a guarantee that you will end up with jobs like this! You poor, poor thing!

(kidding, I hope!)
