this may be a tall order, but has anyone seen a free linux release that will install on a pc with dual nics and act as an antivirus gateway?

or, is there a was to get a linux firewall to do this?

I'am using it...,
For personal use f-prot and bitdefender are
available, of-course the open source ClamAV
is available. Some ISP's seem to have a contract
with an anti-virus maker, like xs4all that may
supply all customers with mcAfee, that used to
include linux also but that seems not to exist
anymore, (although the old code still works)
But to integrate it into mail checking you need a
bit more, I can recommend amavisd-new then with
spamassassin added you can tackle some spam
