To have not just 1 Antivirus program but several on the various different locations in your network.

for instance firewall with virus protection, mail-server with a different one, file-server a 3th one, oh and don't forget your clients.

for all there are different anti-virus programs.

One last one ... don't forget the maleware protection!!!

...a bit relative.

I work at a outsourcer whos services various companies. I have seen very efficient installations on small/medium sized companys as well as very big corporate giants. Symantec SEP v11mr4 is great, likewise for TrendMicro. Have tried other brands, but preferred these two.

Also depends on cash to spend on product and support and knowledge.

it is.

From IT-management it can be a **** of a job to install and maintain all anti-virus and other anti-stuff. Let alone the costs of buying all (they're not all freeware, special not if used in a professional way)

On company-wide-management, besides the costs, there is the need of "the best" protection of company-assets there is.

Those to can bite one-an-other :)
