AntiVirus on Corporate Laptops?

By clarkd038 ·
Good Afternoon,

I am looking for a better AntiVirus program to place on several laptops that we have. The only catch is I want some way to remotely administer these machines, making sure they are updating their virus databases frequently. I also want to be alerted of any virus/malware that is found on these machines.

We currently use Trend Micro, but the machines are not staying connected to the administrative site even when they are in "roaming mode".

Any suggestions or information on other peoples setups would be greatly appreciated

lost connection

Have you determined why these systems are dropping their connection?

We use Symantec 10, and the PC's check for updates when connected to the network. You could also control how and when they check for updates. Laptops that will be away for an extended period can be set to update from Symantec directly. But that can create alot of overhead while on the network so they should always updrate from their parent server when they can communicate with it.

You can also setup multiple parent servers depending on location if need be.

They lost connection because they only get used for certain events, so they are not on and the trend micro admin site is dropping them off after 15 days- set by us, so that we can get rid of stale computers.

We are using officscan 8.0. This issue has been formed as one of the laptops became infected and it gave a pop up on that laptop, but we never heard anything about it. So we want to insure that they are connecting to our server and sending notifications of infections.

We currently use Symantec Endpoint Protection. It's easy to use and install. Administration is a breeze.
