Antivirus on Network

by kdecosta In reply to Antivirus on Network

We use Network Associates products which consist of:
1. Webshield - works on Proxy to scan all accessed web pages and downloads.
2. Groupshield - works on Exchange to scan all incoming and outgoing email.
3. Netshield - works on the server itselfto scan files/directories you select.
4. Virus Scan - works on the clients to scan their machines and any accessed floppies.

All of these programs with the exception of Virus Scan run as services on the servers. They are fully programmable as far as selecting what or what not to scan and how to alert you if a virus is found. They are also programmed to download updated dat files so we are always up to date.

I can't tell you how relieved I am when my servers notify me that it has stopped a virus, especially with these worms out there.

Hope this helps.

My 2 cents....

Many hig-end constantly updated Anti-virus programs can be purchashed that will ease your pains...such as Kaspersky Labs Antivirus, and Norton or McAfee.
I would also strongly recommend very adequate firewall protection be put in place.
My recommendation for software firewalls i Zonealarm...have evaulated and compared all the rest...zonealarm I feel is the best firewall, and even includes email protection at the firewall level. Check it out.
