any recommendation when it comes to software for drive wiping?

By Woodtears ·
What would the community recommend for doing a HDD wipe, WipeDrive or Killdisk? Or maybe some other software?

Thanks.

Depends on what is on the drive

And the reason for wiping. If it is just to kill an infection I use a old IBM Utility called Wipe & Zap. This does one complete write of zeros to the HDD and kills off anything on the drive.

However if the idea is to destroy the data on the drive Boot & Nuke

of Wipe Disc

All work quite well. Any Military Spec Wiping Utility will be more than sufficient here. Though to be 100% safe if it has sensitive Data like Patient medical Records or things like that the drive should be destroyed.

The Old IBM Utility is no longer listed on either IBM, Hatachi or Lenovo Web Sites so you may have to dig around to find it.

but I wouldn't use it on a Notebook as you may wipeout your Recovery Partition.
