Ok, this is a long story but here it is. My baby brother passed away two weeks ago. My parents gave me his desktop (they had no interest in seeing all of the porn..), but my brother Al is some kind of super genius or really fricking paranoid because every possible means (that I could find anyway) of resetting the admin password has been disabled. There is no cd-rom drive (there is an external one that I don’t have access to with my ‘limited’ account). I can’t boot from usb, I’m going to try floppy next but I’m not very hopeful. The ‘net user’ thing in the command line doesn’t work, it doesn’t recognize ‘net’ as a valid command, executable, etc. I’m thinking I’m going to have to pull out his hard drives (there are four), figure out which one has xp installed, and put it into housing for an external drive if possible to access it from my laptop. Any suggestions? This is driving me batty. It’s kind of cool to feel like he left a test for me though, even if I’m not smart enough to pass it!
Oh, I can get into the BIOS. It isn’t password protected, though fat lot of good that has done me….
Thanks for your time,
Lesley
