Any way to trick 98 to ne NT?

By Tim D IL ·
I'm running Personal Web Server as a test to try out an intranet in my office. I need to run Office extensions on the web server I have designated, but I can't because the server is running Windows 98 and not NT/2000. Is there any way to trick 98 into being "NT98"?

Sorry... that looks meaner than it should be. Anyways.... I'm looking to see if there is a way I can install Office Server Extensions to a Windows 98 Personal Web Server. When I tried, it told me I needed to use Windows NT.

no. They have different kernels. You can always upgrade or dual boot though. If you decide to dual boot make sure both partitions are fat - not fat32 or NTFS. Win95/98 can't read NTFS and NT can't read FAT32

This one is a big help, actually. I just am not ready to close the question. I actually have more questions... how do I dual boot? What is the fat partition as opposed to a fat32 or NTFS?

If you want to "try out" an intranet in your office you had better be prepared for a journey into the unknown. If you want to do it right, upgrade your software, IIS does work well.

Hello! Well, I want to upgrade the computer to Windows 2000 (Professional until if/when we get a new file/program server) and use IIS. The problem is getting my boss to see it that way... we'll see! Thanks for your feedback!
