I’ve been over to search Google and it seems other’s have this same issue yet somehow fail to post the fix. The posting that did give a seven step process to install Enigmail and dependencies even managed to miss the actual part about making it work so here I am.
GnuPG installed including gpg-agent
Thunderbird installed with Enigmail plugin
Error consistently returned any time I try to sign or encrypt an email:
”
Send operation aborted.
Error – bad passphrase
gpg command line and output:
/user/bin/gpg –charset utf8 –batch –no-tty –status-fd 2 — comment ‘Using GnuPG with Mandriva – http://enigmail.mozdev.org’ -t –clearsign -u (omitted string) –use-agent
gpg:cancelled by user
gpg:skipped “(omitted string)”: bad passphrase
gpg:[stdin]:clearsign failed: bad passphrase
”
Where “(omitted string)” is actually a hex code looking thing I presume is my user identifier so it’s been left out of this post.
I’ve exported environment settings. I’ve modified bash profiles. I’ve redone the step by step install a few times. I’ve had no luck. (And why in bloody ‘ell does gpg or the Enigmail plugin not set this up properly when they are installed?)
Has anyone out there managed to fix this error on there own setup? I’d prefer Mandriva specific solutions but it’s all the same commodity parts so I’ll take any help offered.
