Apple/Mac Tools for Security/Net Admin

By mikeh ·
We service a mixed WinTel/Mac environment in our client base, so I recently acquired an iBook as my primary 'take the office with me' tool.

We presently run Virtual PC 7 with Windows XP to run our network monitoring and security analysis tools but find this cumbersome and eats resources like crazy.

I'm trying to find some tools like Ostronet, NetLab, McAfee Sniffer equivalents that run on OS X on a Mac.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You'll mostly be looking at open source and Unix tools like
nmap. Try searching Sourceforge first. Go to

<http://sourceforge.net/softwaremap/trove_list.php?
form_cat=309>

and search for security.

Also search the mac Products guide at Apple

http://guide.apple.com/uscategories/servers.lasso

Also try

<http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/
networking_security/>

and Versiontracker

MacWizard, thanks for hte sourceforge.net lead. Found some interesting tools.

I use X11 with *.nix tools, but was looking for some OS X GUI tools similar to what I use in the Wintel environment, which I found on sourceforge.net.

Again, thanks muchly.
