I have a CAD application from which I take printouts to HP printer. While selecting print from the application, the Windows Print Dialog is displayed with the Default printer and others. After successfully printing for some time ( about 5 -10 prints ), the application suddenly says ” there are no default printer on this machine “. I verified that default printer is always set. The file spoolsv.exe is also running. Other applications are able to print at this point. So I believe, there is some thing in the OS that is not allowing the Printers list to be supplied to my CAD application. I cannot think about any issue with the specific application, since all it has to get is list from OS. I would like to troubleshoot this issue from the OS side first. Please provide some ideas about where to start !!
OS – Windows XP 32bit
Printer connected locally to USB port
Windows Fire Fall and Antivirus are turned of when the issue is noticed.
