Application W2K server

By pcfletcher ·
One of our customers uses a WAN.Our software uses a server on this and is a standalone application server. We need to disconnect the server and clients from their WAN to allow us to convert our software.( We will do this @ our offices) We need to beable to authenticate the clients on the application server rather than the DC on the WAN. Can we upgrade the application server to a DC?

This is easy enough to do, as long as your servers spec is up to the extra load. simply select start \ run \ dcpromo.exe. Once you have finished what you need to do, and the wan is reconnected, run dcpromo again to return the server to standalone.

Sorry, got pulled away before I properly finished that. I wanted to say that perhaps the easiest option for you will be to build a desktop as a server, dcpromo that in and then dcpromo it out when you have finished. This means that the app server will be unaffected by the process.
