Application will not print

I am using Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 running on Windows xp. Adobe Pagemaker will not print to my printer HP psc 1350. All other applications print. Any soluytions?

did you try going into printer settings of pagemaker ? is there a check accross the psc stating that it is the default output file ? it is either that or you are trying to print something your printer/installeed driver is unable to print . check adobe’s site for any warnings on this printer and reload the driver of psc answering graphic related questions carefully.

The printer is my default printer. The printer is the output printer in pagemaker page setup. I am only printing text, no graphics.

What you said not printing what exactly does that mean? That the job isn’t being sent to the printer or that the printer will not print the page?

If it’s the latter check the page size in the Advanced options of the HP printer they may be different to what is loaded in the printer and will not allow the page to print.

If nothing is being sent to the printer you’ll need to reinstall the Adobe application there has been an install problem as it isn’t reconsigning the available printer.

You also need to check with Adobe to see if there are any known issues with that printer and that program and OS it’s possible that one of the new MS Patches is causing the application not to print.

I have checked with Adobe site and I am still trying the suggestions listed on the site. The application(Adobe Pagemaker) will print a rectangle/square ok but will not print a page of text. However the apllication (Adobe Pagemaker) prints the pages of text to a different printer.
N.B.: All other applications print to the same printer HP PSC 1350.

digitalshy , I read your comments . Only one thing is left . Pagemaker has a bug involving psc 1350 driver . You say :
1. can print from other apps
2. is defalt printer
3. printing only text .
To prove that pagemaker has a fault under windows : go out to dos command promt and type the command :
c:>type hello > lpt1
as your printer is most probably connected to the first printer port . If it prints then the above is true . Even print a text file that you created with edit command . a longer page written out correctly will prove our point .

will not print?
what exact error? if any. or just nothing happens?
can you print new publication. can it print a simple new publication with nothing in it maybe a few words?

Well if that is the case there is defiantly an issue with the printer and the program if it will print to other printers and not your default printer there has to be something about that printer that is unsupported or the page is attempting to print beyond the range of the printer {that means it is attempting to print wider or longer than the actual printer can on a given page.}

What font are you using? Did you try something like Times or Courier. These are fonts your OS uses, Adobe uses and your printer will definitely not have a problem with them. When we had this problem the font turned out to be the problem. Also, maybe try a different driver for your printer.
