apply Windows updates on non-admin users

By tech06 ·
What method do you use to implement windows updates for LAN users who don't have administrator's right? We have 50 users on the LAN and whenever a windows update becomes available, the users don't have permission to install it and the network admin has to intervene. Is there a safe and automated way to update those computers without granting the users administrator's right?

Any advise is appreciated.

OS Version?

You didn't mention the version, but WinXP you can set it to allow them to install via automatic update. A better approach would be to download the WSUS tool (it's free) and direct all your LAN systems to that. Then you can control what updates are pushed to the systems after you review and approve.
We are rolling this out on our base of 16,000+ systems, and it is helping a great deal.

The domain is on NT4, member servers on Windows 2000 Server, clients - Win98/2000/XP Professional.

Thanks.
