Applying Personal Settings

By mikesheridan82 ·
During login my computer hangs in the "Applying Personal Settings" screen for about 5 mins.

We have a windows server 2003 in our office and are running windows xp Pro.

Is there anything i can do to speed this up?

Perhaps this holds the answer...

another person with a similar issue:
http://www.security-forums.com/viewtopic.php?p=266605

he said his resolution was...
"I figured out what the problem was. I didn't realize the TCP/IP settings were set statically, as opposed to fetching an IP address from our DHCP server. Once I set it to automatically detect, login to profiles were faster."

I hope this helps.

Roaming Profiles??

by bencaston In reply to Applying Personal Setting ...

Are you using roaming profiles to apply these settings or are these just group policy settings you are changing.. If it is group policy i would enable it to be open with no settings applied and see if this helps.. if it doesnt then enable settings and restrictions slowly to see which setting or restriction windows is hanging up on.. It seems to me windows is trying to apply a security setting and eventually throwing it out becasue it cant be applied. Hope it helps

Were you able to figure out what was causing the stall?
