Apps open on login, but arent in startup

By Moushie_23 ·
Windows XP Pro:
When logging into this particular pc (no matter who logs in) quite a few system tools launch, like Computer Mgr, Services, Event Viewer, ODBC Connections, .Net Config...
I have checked in All Users Startup, Default User Startup, each users startup. Startup is empty...I then checked the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and did not find any items there that would launch all these tools. I also checked HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and found nothing.
I check the Services to see if there was any unusual services running (there are not)... I looked for any scripts that might be running on the local machine at login to launch these tools and found nothing...If anyone has any ideas of how to stop these programs from launching, I would appreciate the help.

I agree with scheduled tasks settings. Any executable file can be set to run at startup.

The way I found out what was happening (as was mentioned by the other person) was by using MSCONFIG and unchecking pretty much everything except Explorer and Systray and re-enabling them one at a time. When scheduler was rechecked the programs started again. I eventually found out someone was doing this as a practicle joke.
