Archiving Messages - Outlook 2002

By bmcafee ·
In a W2K environment and Exchange Svr 2000, a user using Outlook 2002 SP 2 can not archive any messages. It stops without any error messages or completed results. This user has an excessive amount of E-mail message (about 9,000). Any suggestions on reducing the stack?

Thanks for all replies.

Archiving Messages - Outlook 2002

I'm running Outlook with 10,000 e-mails in my inbox and over 25,000 in the entire PST.

It could be memory or the OS.

When I ran under WinME with 512MB emmory, Outlook would often hang. I switched to XP with only 256MB and it works fine.

Check the size of the users PST (Archive) file. There is a 2GB size limit on the PST file and it gets real flakey when you approach the limit or when an archive opporation will cause the PST to exceed that limit. Also check permissions of the drive/floder where the PST file resides. Good luck.
