ArcServe across routers

By techrep ·
We support a banking system with a TCP/IP network that is WAN'd across the local branches by Cisco 3600 routers. We are trying to get the ARCSERVE at the main branch to back up the clients in the remote locations. Some are on T-1, some are 56K Frame, I have put static routes in the Cisco 3600's and I can ping out to the branches from the Arcserve machine, but the ArcServer software does not see them. I have installed the client software and brought that machine to the local subnet and it seesit OK.

Any ideas?

need more info

Assuming that the devices are configured to transport over IP, you must verify IP connectivity END-to END. If IP is working fine, (PING will do to verify layer 3 is OK) then you may want to see if your clients are working ok. Put a client on the same subnet as the server if you have to to remove the network from the equation. You may want to put a SNIFFER on the network and capture a session. That may tell you if the conversion to IP is actually working, and possibly where in the connect process thinhs are failing...

hope this helps.
