There are many. Here’s a list of the 10 best: https://www.lifewire.com/free-disk-partition-software-tools-2624950. One of them is open source Gparted that’s part of many Linux distributions that you might already have on a disc or stick, but also can be downloaded separately.

Is the partition manager (disk management) built into Windows 10 not enough for what you want to do?

By the way, free software never has trials. Only paid software (sometimes called “shareware”) has. I wouldn’t call it stupid (but good marketing) to have free trials for paid software. That’s like an hour of a free trial when you buy a car.

I use what W10 comes with all the time.

The rare times I find W10 refuses to work with a drive I boot up GPARTED.

Please add what issue you are trying to fix here.

I personally recommend either “GParted” or “MiniTool Partition Wizard Free”. GParted is a powerful, open-source tool, while MiniTool has a user-friendly interface and is great for basic tasks. Both should be able to help you convert your HDD to a healthy, active primary partition on Windows 10.

As an individual who encountered the same issue, I can relate to the frustration of finding free partitioning software without annoying trial limitations. However, I discovered a solution for Windows 10.
There are reliable free partitioning software options available, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard and EaseUS Partition Master, which provide comprehensive partitioning features without imposing unnecessary trial restrictions.
I successfully used one of these tools to convert my HDD to a healthy active primary partition, resolving the problem effectively and without any trial limitations.
