Apparently not. You read too much about hacks.

While most of the breaches you read about are on systems that are not up to date the old hacks still work great.

      1. I’m from your company IT and need your password to install the new security patch.
      2. Hmm, I’ll just download this to the cloud (employee or other persons.)
      3. “I need this change in by lunchtime. Don’t tell me we need to test for security or you’re fired.”

Add more as you think about them.

Never forget, the more they try to make it foolproof, society will invent a bigger fool.

Current security measures are constantly evolving, but many experts believe they may not be sufficient to fully defend against modern cyber threats. As cyberattacks become more sophisticated, organizations must adopt a multi-layered approach that includes proactive threat detection, regular updates, employee training, and robust incident response strategies to effectively mitigate risks and safeguard sensitive data.

Like all things computer related we are playing catch up to the breaches that are made by the bad guys so they first have to break in then someone needs to find the breach report it to the maker of whatever and wait for them to issue a patch to fix the weakness.

Depending on how advanced the breach is that could take months I still know of some holes found in Windows 3.1 that have not been patched and while only a little of that code is running in Windows 11 it is still there and a potential vulnerability.

The only system that is fully protected is one that can not be used and never has a person near it as it is Humans which are the biggest weakness to any form of security.
