Are we ready for Cyber Frauds?

By sehgalsandeep ·
We all are building our lives around the networks. My question is, are we ready to work together to defend them?

Identifying and assessing the gaps

In one organisation we found out that the processes its security professionals used to deal with a breach/gap were mainly relying on email and collaborative engine and they would have limited ability to counter to an attack that compromised those systems.

Not very well trained Security Professionals then

But then again maybe they where being prevented from doing their job by Management who refused to spend the necessary funds to keep their data safe.

Every Security Breach I have ever run across has been a direct result of Penny Pinching on the part of management as they refuse to believe that anyone would want their data.

Look at what Bradley Manning is accused of doing taking in Blank Recordable CD/DVD and using the Optical Drive in the computer he was issued to record the data which he is Accused of passing to Wikileaks.

Why did any machines in a Secure Environment have the ability to record data to something like a DVD Blank?

More importantly why was it possible to take Blank CD/DVD onto the Base and then off again? Back when I worked in areas like that you could take anything you liked onto the base but try to leave with it and you where in a World of Hurt.

Of course today enforcing Security like that requires Staff to inspect people as they leave the base and we all know that no one would do anything wrong don't we?

Sorry but not even a Bureaucrat would believe that.
