AS/400 Printer w/SQL

By KellyGruver ·
I currently have a dot-matrix printer that is dedicated to my AS/400. Is there a converter switch that is avaiable so that I can use this printer for both my AS/400 and SQL Server reporting needs? Someone at IBM told me no...others are saying they have heard of it being done. Please give me some direction!

Is your AS/400 on the Lan/has an IP address?

Your dot-matrix printer probably has an OUTQ on the AS/400.

I don't know anything about SQL Server but can you create a printer or print queue on SQL Server that points to the IP address of your AS/400 and specifies the dot-matrix printer's OUTQ? I know on the AS/400 I can create an OUTQ that points to another system's OUTQ but I don't know about SQL Server.
