My employer has a position open that is titled “Computer Support Specialist” The main job duty is to maintain, troubleshoot and support 164 Win9x/Novell 4.11 PC’s. The computing environment encompasses NT 4.0, TCP/IP, T1 Internet connectivity, in-house web and email services, Cisco switches and routers. Also involved is a variety of PC security software packages such as Deep Freeze, WinSelect and Fortres 101.
My question is: there is a candidate with 31 years of AS400 experience as a customer engineer and consultant. The candidate is a PC hobbiest and is quite at home with the guts of a PC. How relevant is AS400 experience to maintaining a fleet of PC’s in a public environment?
