The key is of course how to uniquley identify a "ticket". I expect that it means some control number.

So have a database that supports ADO. In that database, generate the next ticket number and display it to the user for their records (alternatives but not precise are cookies etc). Get some unique identification for the user (say name and date and time).

Next, when the user is ready to update the ticket, ask them to chooise the ticket number and confirm with identifiers stored previously, and update using the SQWl statement appropriate to the data ase.

HTH.
End of mail.

Two ways now.
If users [ASP] are writing the new ticket number in the queue, you need to have a routine in the server which reads the queue and update your database about the ticket number in the queue.
If there is no queue, you can use ADO technology to update your database with ticket number. check ADO sample codes in www.microsoft.com/data
