ASR Disk backs up entire system

by multiplexed . Updated 19 years, 11 months ago

I’m trying to build an ASR Disk. I have a 2003 lab computer that windows explorer says is 5.44 GB of files. When I run the ASR wizard, it backs up 4.88 GB of almost every single file on the entire system. I had the same problems with ERD disks on windows 2000.

What I’m doing is below…

-Method 1-
Open MSBackup
Select Backup Tab
Select Job, then New – (Zero files are selected now)
Select Backup file destination
Select Tools, Then ASR Wizard
Next/Next/ – Finish the ASR wizard

It then calculates & attempts to back up 4.88 GB of data.

-Method 2-
Open MSBackup
Select Backup Tab
Select Job, then New, then select 1 single file (boot.ini) –
Save Selection (1 file, boot.ini is selected)
Select Backup file destination
Select Tools, Then ASR Wizard
It prompts “would you like to clear the current selection”

If I say no, ASR wizard closes
If I say yes,
Next/Next/ – Finish the ASR wizard

It then calculates & attempts to back up 4.88 GB of data.

-Method 3-
Open MS Backup
Select “Welcome” tab
Click the ASR Wizard Button
Next/Next/ – Finish the ASR wizard
It then calculates & attempts to back up 4.88 GB of data.
